Celebrating Women’s History Month

March is Women’s History Month, a time to celebrate the incredible contributions women have made throughout history. As we honor the achievements of women everywhere, let’s take a moment to recognize the inspiring women of the NC REALTORS® Housing Foundation Board of Directors. These dedicated leaders are working tirelessly to make a difference in our communities, advocating for affordable housing and supporting those in need. The ladies of the Board bring diverse expertise from real estate, leadership, and community outreach, united by their shared vision to improve access to safe, affordable housing. Through their work, they are advancing the mission of the Housing Foundation and inspiring the next generation of women leaders in real estate and beyond. Learn more about them below.

Wendy Harris was born in Germany and lived in England before moving to the United States at age 10. She has lived on three continents, in five countries, across seven states, and even on a sailboat.

A REALTOR® for 24 years, Wendy is a member of Long Leaf Pines REALTORS® and owns Team Harris Real Estate. She believes that successful women in the real estate industry need both breadth and depth in various areas. “Determination, professionalism, and a strong work ethic have been key to my success,” she says.

After serving as President of NCR in 2022, Wendy sought new ways to continue contributing to the association. “NCRHF seemed like a great fit for both my experience and my passion,” she explains.

Her mantra for overcoming challenges is simple but effective: “Just keep moving forward.” Her favorite color is blue, as she loves both the sky and the ocean—making it a natural fit for her personality.

Rosemarie Doshier

Rosemarie Doshier has lived in North Carolina for 52 years and has worked in real estate for 38 years. She is a member of the Outer Banks Association of REALTORS® and owns The Doshier Team OBX Realty.

Rosemarie believes that three essential characteristics women in real estate should possess are honesty, ambition, and a genuine enjoyment of working with people.

She joined the NCRHF because she recognizes the foundation’s valuable programs that many members are unaware of. “I felt I could help share our goals and increase awareness among REALTORS® about who we are and what we stand for. Serving as a director would give me a voice in shaping the programs we approve.”

Her mantra for overcoming challenges is, “You can’t keep doing the same thing and expect different results,” and her favorite color is lavender.

Beth Hensley

Beth Hensley is a North Carolina native and has lived within a 30-mile radius her whole life. She has been in real estate since 2000 and became a REALTOR® in 2006. Beth serves as the Association Executive for both the Catawba Valley Association and the Burke County Association.

She believes that three key characteristics women in the real estate industry should possess are empathy, resilience, and a strong will.

Beth joined NCRHF because someone she admires and respects asked her to. She felt incredibly honored and is grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside such like-minded and passionate individuals. The NCRHF is all about people caring for people and helping one another, and Beth is proud to be part of this mission.

Her mantra for overcoming obstacles is, “You cannot eat an elephant in a day,” and her favorite color is green.

Ayesha Richardson

Ayesha Richardson was born in New Jersey but grew up in North Carolina, spending most of her life in Hope Mills, Cumberland County. On April 20, 2010, she began her career as a REALTOR®, later establishing her own company, Mentor Rich Realty Group Inc., which is dually affiliated with Keller Williams. She is an active member of the High Point Association of REALTORS®.

Ayesha believes that integrity, strength, and loyalty are three essential characteristics everyone should possess.

She joined the NCRHF Board of Directors after being recruited by Michelle Roberts, the 2023 NCRHF President. “I wasn’t fully aware of the Housing Foundation until I met Michelle Roberts and Mark Lindsay during the 2023 NCR Leadership Academy,” she explains. “Once I gained clarity on the difference between the NCR Housing Foundation and the REALTOR® Relief Fund, I asked how I could get involved. When the opportunity presented itself, I jumped.”

When facing challenges, Ayesha has several go-to mantras, including, “I have made it through 100% of my worst days—my track record is good,” “Let it go, Elsa,” and “I can only control what I can control.” Her favorite color is “Hello Yellow” because just saying “yellow” feels incomplete, like something is missing.

Michelle Roberts

Michelle Roberts was born and raised in North Carolina and has been in real estate for 18 years. After earning her real estate license in 2007, she founded her company, Reignited Real Estate, brokered by Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage. A member of Cape Fear REALTORS®, Michelle believes that integrity, grit, and a servant’s heart are three of the most important characteristics for women in the real estate industry.

She joined the NC REALTORS® Housing Foundation to make an impact on the affordable housing crisis. “I have watched the housing gap grow and believe that owning a home is the first step to financial freedom. I was searching for a way to bring about change when I fell in love with the NCRHF mission—and the rest is history.”

Michelle’s mantra for facing challenges is, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” – Maya Angelou. While she doesn’t have a favorite color, her children would say it’s black because she wears it all the time.
